Hello guys, this is meant as a sort of introductory post for those of you who haven’t managed to come along to one of our brilliant voice over script practice sessions….which are FREE to attend!
I want to show you exactly what it is that we do when we come together each week to practice reading scripts. If you have any doubts or concerns or you’re simply feeling a bit shy or nervous about attending a session with us (we’ve all felt like this!) then I urge you to watch the video below. It’s a typical Booth Chat script practice and you’ll quickly see how friendly and supportive it is and how valuable it could be for your progress as a voice over artist!
The video is from late 2021 and although a few small things have changed since then the basic process remains the same:
Someone reads a script
The group then gives the reader constructive feedback on how they might improve the read or some ideas about a different direction to take it in.
The reader has a chance to read the script again, maybe using some of those suggestions to make changes/improvements.
The group again offers kind and helpful feedback on the read.
If there’s time maybe a 3rd read is possible.
Then the next person reads a script and the process starts again…
That’s it!!
Maybe as you’re watching you could think about what you like about each read and what you think could be done differently to improve it. Think about what comments you might have given and see if you agree or disagree with the comments made in the video. Remember, rarely is anything right or wrong and each person may have a completely different opinion to everyone else, and that is perfectly ok. It can be a very subjective thing and everyone’s perspective is valid, no matter how much experience they have in the voice over industry!
I really hope you find the video enjoyable and helpful (apologies for the poor audio/visual quality) and feel free to leave comments or ask questions in the comments section below. See you soon!
